The world produces 430 million tons of plastic every year, with 36% of that coming in the form of product packaging. Mind blowing right? What if we could do our part and stop with the unnecessary one time packaging? What if we refilled sustainable containers saving plastic (and money!) This was the concept that gave birth to Birch & Twine. We wanted to bring the community a place to get higher quality goods (Organic, non GMO, naturally dyed, non toxic) at a similar or even more affordable price than those big box chains.

Many companies are trying to transition some of their plastics for paper, but unfortunately even that doesn't do enough. Forests are cut down, disturbing delicate ecosystems and trees take time to grow back and mature. Sustainable materials though, like bamboo are not only strong but can grow up to 3 feet per day! Not to mention bamboo products are both attractive and sleek.

Hopefully this has perked your ears up a little to just how important sustainability is, but how about our oceans? Did you know that on average, a truckload of plastic is dumped into our oceans every minute! How does that affect us you may ask? Well for starters, 1 in every 3 fish caught for human consumption contains plastics resulting in 80% of humans testing positive for microplastics in their bloodstream.
